Gold Coast Water will be working near our fields this Wednesday night, 26th August, and maybe Thursday the 27th which will effect the parking & traffic. The Musgrave Soccer Club carpark will be available for parking but delays may occur accessing this carpark due to trucks entering and exiting through the same entrance as the cars. The hockey carpark/entrance will not be available.

and local outfit Southport has been switched to Musgrave
Soccer Club (Keith Hunt Park, Musgrave Avenue, Labrador)
after Southport advised us this morning that their pitch is
too wet to stage the game.
The match will kick off at the original time (7.00pm) with
the Gold Coast United players set to meet and greet fans
between 6.00pm and 6.30pm.
Gold Coast United wish to apologise to fans who are
inconvenienced by this late change, but stress that the
matter is entirely out of our hands.

The draw has been generated to minimise clashes with those teams with dual players however I did this by using the records from the first week sign on as we didn’t have all the team lists submitted by the 27th January.

Due to the poor turn up at the working bee on the weekend another working bee has been scheduled for this Saturday 28th February (9 am) to at least complete the essential jobs. I’d like to thank the three players that came, Patrick Lyons from True Blue, John Di Bartolo from Bards United and Peter Gates from the Vets and with two committee members, Brian Gobie from Wolves and myself as well as Des, the groundsman, in total six people. With 44 teams consisting of nearly 700 members I was very disappointed in the poor turn up.

It has become an impossible task to please all teams with the dual players between over 35 teams but also between 35 and 45’s. Another issue was organising teams to play on field 2. The club has put a lot of effort in endeavouring to better our fields and field 2 has been a trial as to how we could improve all the fields in the future. It is a pity that we have a goal keeper in our midst who doesn’t appreciate an all over grass pitch and marked the 6 & 18 yard box on both ends on Monday 7th July. If anyone can assist in providing information as to who it might be, it would be greatly appreciated.

The winter competition is scheduled to commence on Monday 7th July, weather permitting. The fees are $100 for the season with an additional $60 per team if playing for more than one team.
To ensure a smooth sign up and to assist the registrar all players should pay their fees to their team leader as soon as possible so that the fees are paid prior to their game.
Unfortunately there cannot be any exceptions made, all players fees are required.
Please note the first team you play for $100 is required whether it's your "first" team or not.

Taking two teams of ten players each to Malaysia, flying out 26 February on Air Asia X from Coolangatta. There is an 11-a-side game in KL on Thursday night, 28/02, followed by the tournament in Penang on the weekend. So far we have 16 players. We are looking for 2 to 4 more players to complete teams. The council contractors did oversowing last Friday but left lots of grass clippings on the fields. They need to be removed so if you have a rake or a blower please bring them tonight.

There seems to be a huge amount of interest for players to play in the 2008 preseason competition starting on the 7th January. It looks like we have 38 teams compared to 24 teams in the last preseason. To make sure players can participate in the 45’s and 35’s I need to known which teams would most likely be affected as we play on 3 venues.

This is the last week of competition for this year. The pre-season will start on the 7th January and 18 teams have already nominated in the "Over 35's" but however at this point in time there are only a few vacancies in the last group of six. The "Over 45's" is full. For president report click here

Council has given our club an opportunity by permitting us to undertake the repairing of the fields. Bob Cray from Princess Turf Farm will be supervising this project and this could become an annual event.
We need the help of all members who are really concerned about playing on good fields. We encourage each team based at Labrador Keith Hunt Park to have a minimum of 2 players available per night as this renovation is needed now and cannot be done later.
For those who have complained this year about the field conditions but didn’t help with last year’s renovation you now have the chance to improve the field conditions for next year. Don’t leave the job to others so you can complain again next year as your complaints will fall on deaf ears. Please speak with actions now or forever hold your peace!
Please bring a shovel, spade, mattock, pick, crowbar or any tool to break up the soil.

To remove goals after each night has resulted in the reduction of the wear and tear in the goal area which now only need minimal repairs. The Council's Parks and Gardens have been very pleased with the results and are encouraging other clubs to do the same.
